Its A Shore Thing

Memories at the shore, if you are lucky enough to have them, they will never fade away. Growing up in Maryland, we were a short driving distance from all the summer fun! My life took me up and down the coast. Collecting shells on the beaches, grabbing slices and sodas on the boards and tshirt shopping in the small towns, from Maine all the way to the Florida stopping everywhere in between, memories were made. From childhood to adulthood so much of summer time was spent in the sand, sun and surf! As an adult I have found the Dominican Beaches, truly my happy place. The only worry there is if the tides gonna reach my chair. The place I truly unplug, relax and unwind is where the waves meet the shore. You wont find me searching for my lost shaker of salt, because I’ll have my toes in the water, ass in the sand, with two pina coladas one for each hand, because when the sun goes down we’ll be grooving, because everything is hotter when the sun goes down. If I could live on an Island I would. I joke with Mike on vacations that he could work the Golf Course and I could work two jobs to pull my weight financially. I feel I would be awesome at lining the pool chairs up at night and puting them out in the morning around the pool. Then I could easily be THAT person who stamps the hotel logos in the elevator ashtrays! Maybe I braid hair or go into the flip flop business my friend Liz came up with. Aim high right?

I came across this poem the other day. Not sure how I came upon it but it spoke to me.

“For her the ocean was more than a dream, it was a place she needed to visit to find herself. And when she returned to the city, you could see the sun in her eyes, the wind in her hair, the taste of the infinite salt on her lips.” -Jose Chaves

Thinking of our honeymoon 7 years ago and our trip a couple years back. Until I find myself at the swim up bar with Mike singing to Kenny, I will sit outside in my lawn chair, a glass of wine in my hand and my toes in Nate’s pool.  Cheers!
